Former
West Indies cricket captain and batting star, Dr. Sir Vivian
Richards, “The Master Blaster”, will be inducted into Hartford’s
Cricket Hall of Fame at a gala ceremony to be held at the
Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, Cromwell, Connecticut,
Saturday, September 29, 2001.
Keynote speaker for the evening will be Antiguan cricket commentator
and historian, Tim Hector.
More
than 400 are expected to be in attendance at the event in
which at least two local cricket personalities will be honored
for their contributions to the sport in the region. Representatives
from most of the cricketing countries as well as a contingent
of ambassadors are expected to be in attendance. It is anticipated
that Ian Botham and pop singer Eric Clapton, close friends
of Sir Vivian, will be among the attendees.
The
year promises to be a very busy one for the Hall of Fame with
the induction ceremony being the highlight of the events.
